THERMOFIELD®

How it works

The Thermofield® Noninvasive Deep Tissue Heating System is a patented technology that uses specialized applicators to deliver controlled radiofrequency energy and gently warm deep tissues.

Change in blood flow over baseline in locally heated tissue

This study examines how heating a specific body area affects blood circulation. It aims to understand the relationship between temperature changes and vascular response for potential therapeutic applications.

Potential Benefits of Increased Blood Flow

Decades of research show that heat can increase circulation, influence immune activity, and affect tissue responses. Thermofield® is being studied to better understand how these effects may be applied in medicine.

Enhances Drug Distribution

Increased blood flow may influence how drugs are carried into tissue. Research is ongoing to understand the impact on targeted delivery.

Immune System Activation

Heating tissue can activate stress signals in cells, which are being studied for their potential role in supporting immune activity.

Improved Oxygen and Nutrient Supply

Local warming may improve oxygen and nutrient delivery to tissue through increased blood flow.

Lymphatic Flow

Heat exposure has been associated with changes in lymphatic drainage, which may help with the movement of fluids and waste products.

Tissue Processes

Laboratory studies suggest heat can influence proteins like collagen and elastin, which play a role in tissue structure and repair.

Pain Perception

Theories such as “gate control” suggest heat may influence how nerves transmit pain signals. These mechanisms are under study in relation to deep tissue heating.

Multifaceted Benefits

Advantages of Thermofield Technology

Ease of Use

Designed for noninvasive use and simple to operate. In a controlled Wake Forest study, the device was well tolerated, with no serious adverse events and only mild, temporary skin redness in three participants at higher settings.

Research Versatility

Being studied for applications where local blood flow may play an important role.

Immune Research

Heat exposure can trigger cellular stress responses, which are being investigated for their possible role in immune activity.

Portable Design

Compact and lightweight, with direct-contact applicators that eliminate the need for a water bolus.

Disclaimer: Investigational Device

This device is not cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment, diagnosis, or prevention of any disease. It is made available only under investigational or expanded access frameworks, such as Right-to-Try or physician-directed integrative care, where permitted by law.

A controlled safety study conducted at Wake Forest University evaluated 80 treatments in 20 healthy volunteers over six weeks. The device was safe and well tolerated at 40 °C and 42 °C, with no serious adverse events and only three cases of mild, temporary skin redness at the higher temperature.

These results demonstrate a degree of established safety under controlled clinical conditions, but they have not been reviewed or evaluated by the FDA. Effectiveness for the treatment of disease has not been evaluated by the FDA.
